Family & Caregiver Coaching

Supporting You as You Support Their Independence

Supporting an autistic adolescent or adult can come with questions that do not always have simple answers. You may know what you want for your loved one—greater independence, stronger communication, healthier routines, and more confidence, but feel unsure about how to help them get there?

Our Family & Caregiver Coaching provides individualized guidance to help families better understand behavior, respond consistently, and create opportunities for greater independence in everyday life.

Together, we identify what is working, where challenges are occurring, and practical strategies that can be incorporated into your family's natural routines. Whether you're navigating challenging behaviors, difficulty with daily routines, communication concerns, or simply trying to determine when to help and when to step back, you don't have to figure it out alone.

How We Can Help

Family and caregiver coaching is individualized to the needs of your household. Rather than providing generic parenting advice, we work together to identify specific challenges, understand what may be contributing to them, and develop realistic strategies that fit into everyday life.

Coaching may address:

  • Increasing independence at home

  • Establishing consistent routines

  • Reducing reliance on prompts and reminders

  • Supporting hygiene and self-care routines

  • Increasing participation in household responsibilities

  • Responding to refusal or avoidance

  • Understanding patterns surrounding challenging behavior

  • Teaching and reinforcing replacement skills

  • Improving communication

  • Supporting emotional regulation

  • Preparing for changes and transitions

  • Establishing healthy boundaries

  • Increasing flexibility

  • Preparing for community activities

  • Encouraging appropriate self-advocacy

  • Creating opportunities for independent decision-making

  • Helping caregivers determine when to assist and when to step back

The strategies we develop are designed to be practical enough to use outside of a therapy session—during mornings, meals, household routines, community outings, family activities, and other everyday situations.
